Teacher conference

You are invited to a PD day for secondary science teachers interested in STEM opportunities and industry engagement.

Conference Details

Dr Carol Aldous, Project leader of the Bridging the Gap team will conduct a one-day conference for secondary school teachers and leaders interested in participating in the Bridging the Gap project. Your attendance and possible willingness to mentor a student teacher would be very much appreciated.

The conference will be of interest to those wanting to learn more about secondary education, industry engagement, and STEM.

The conference will run on the 22nd of March 2019 from 9:00 AM. A free lunch will be provided. Please register your interest in the event below.

Topics

Topics covered in the course of the day will include:

  • Approaches to secondary science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) education
  • Work Integrated Learning: The challenges for the sciences
  • STEM units and activities for the classroom
  • Secondary school and university STEM industry engagement
  • Creative problem solving in science
  • A tour of the Flinders University Tonsley precinct (3D Printing, New Innovation)

Certification

6.5 hours of professional development - covering AITSL Standard 2, 3, 6 and 7.

A certificate will be provided for each registered participant
